’The idea that I destroyed Dutch football makes absolutely no sense.’ 😠

Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk has strongly dismissed accusations that he influenced the team's tactical switch to a back five at the World Cup, calling the allegations "utter nonsense." Following the Netherlands' Round of 32 exit on penalties against Morocco, critics suggested the defender was responsible for the strategy and had harmed Dutch football, claims Van Dijk labeled completely baseless ahead of their Nations League fixture against Germany.
Van Dijk clarified that tactical decisions were created entirely by former manager Ronald Koeman and the technical staff. Additionally, the 35-year-old confirmed he decided not to retire from international football after holding a brief, encouraging meeting with new Netherlands head coach Xavi.
