This was a bold move from Liverpool.
Liverpool reportedly informed Valencia CF of their intention to trigger the €30 million release clause for 19-year-old right-winger David Otorbi. In response to the Premier League club's pursuit, Valencia moved swiftly to activate a three-year contract extension for the attacker. This new agreement raised Otorbi's buyout clause to €60 million to ward off Liverpool's immediate interest.
Writer Zak Anderton notes that Liverpool are seeking a natural right-winger following Mohamed Salah's departure. While Otorbi has scored just once during the 2026-27 season, Anderton argues that a €30 million permanent transfer would have been great value, though the increased €60 million price tag makes a future move far less appealing.
