Liverpool were thought to be keen on triggering a tantalising £25m release clause before things changed…
Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward has reportedly decided against pursuing a permanent transfer for Valencia winger David Otorbi following a contract extension. The Premier League club was previously prepared to trigger the 19-year-old's €30m (£25m) release clause, but Valencia moved to renew his deal until 2031, effectively doubling his buyout clause to €60m (£50m).
According to Spanish reports, Liverpool considers the updated £50m valuation too high despite remaining on the hunt for right-sided attacking options under manager Andoni Iraola. Otorbi, who recently suffered a thigh injury expected to sideline him for six weeks, prioritizes his development at Valencia alongside his new long-term deal.
