Manchester City have been found overwhelmingly guilty by an independent panel, but are intent on appealing with their evidence

Manchester City have been found guilty of over 100 Premier League financial breaches by an independent panel, but Simon Bajkowski reports that a significant redaction suggests owner Sheikh Mansour was found to have no direct knowledge of the disguised funding scheme. Despite this potential escape route for the owner, Manchester City plan to appeal the verdict and argue that sponsorship payments legitimately came from the Abu Dhabi government.
Bajkowski writes that absolving Mansour offers an outcome that could limit reputational damage while focusing blame elsewhere, such as on chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. However, City's legal appeal strategy appears set to involve Mansour directly rather than accept the panel's distinction.
