Aston Villa have devised a radical escape route from signing ex-Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho on a permanent deal.

Aston Villa are reportedly prepared to freeze out winger Alejandro Garnacho to avoid triggering an appearance-based obligation to buy him permanently from Chelsea. According to Football Insider, the club plans to limit the former Manchester United forward's playing time so they are not forced to make his loan transfer permanent at the end of the campaign.
Garnacho joined Villa on loan after struggling at Chelsea, who signed him from Manchester United for £40m in 2025. He has played just 31 competitive minutes across five appearances for manager Unai Emery this season and reportedly faces an uncertain future at Chelsea if he fails to impress.
