Benjamin Sesko has been mocked by a former Manchester United duo in a brutal swipe, but his Slovenia team-mate has jumped to his defence

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko was defended by Slovenia teammate Jaka Bijol following criticism from former United midfielders Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt. Sesko missed Saturday's fixture against Fulham due to shin discomfort and subsequently withdrew from international duty with Slovenia. Speaking on a podcast, Scholes and Butt questioned the severity of the injury, suggesting players should play unless the bone is broken.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick confirmed Sesko required further tests to outline an individual recovery plan. Sesko stated on Instagram that he is focusing fully on his recovery ahead of United's match against Tottenham on October 10.
