Man United offer fans chance to buy unique memento that has a “special place in our hearts”

Manchester United are offering supporters the opportunity to purchase grass from the Old Trafford pitch. Segments of the playing surface are being sold for £125 each, encased in 7cm x 7cm acrylic cubes in a black box through the United Store. The initiative follows the club relaying the Old Trafford pitch over the summer for the first time in 14 years.

The novelty sale comes as Manchester United explore additional revenue streams after reporting a £47 million pre-tax loss, bringing accumulated losses to £444 million over seven years. Alongside the relaid pitch, the club also expanded the home and away dugouts during the summer to meet Champions League specifications.
