Late surge sees former Tottenham manager become favourite for the job…
Mauricio Pochettino has become the bookmakers' favorite at 5/2 to take over as Manchester United manager with Michael Carrick on the brink of being sacked. United drew 4-4 with Aston Villa on Sunday, leaving the club in the relegation zone heading into the international break. Although current USMNT manager Pochettino recently signed a contract extension, he is reportedly open to returning to the Premier League.
Free agents Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are also leading contenders, with reported differences of opinion among Manchester United chiefs. Technical director James Wilcox prefers Howe, while head of recruitment Christopher Vivell favors Nagelsmann. Antonio Conte has expressed interest in returning to English football, but former France manager Didier Deschamps reportedly dismissed an approach from the club.
