The Story in 60 Seconds

Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign 16-year-old Manchester United forward JJ Gabriel on a permanent deal in January. Gabriel requested to leave Old Trafford in September and qualifies for an EU passport through his parents, allowing him to sign a professional European contract. Real Madrid have not yet spoken directly to United, and the proposed move remains subject to FIFA approval.

Manchester United could receive as little as £100,000 in training compensation for the highly rated forward, though the club is reportedly considering legal action to secure a higher sum. Gabriel won the Premier League Under-18 Player of the Season award for 2025/26 and became the youngest player to win United's Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.
