Manchester United have made an indifferent start to the 2026/27 season with pressure beginning to mount on Michael Carrick

Wayne Rooney stated that Manchester United manager Michael Carrick was let down by the club during the summer transfer window. Manchester United entered the international break having won only one of their opening five Premier League fixtures, most recently earning a draw at Craven Cottage against Alvaro Arbeloa's side following a deflected equalizer from Matheus Cunha.
Rooney noted on talkSPORT that United's squad remains weak in attack and defense despite summer midfield signings Andrey Santos for up to £50 million and Youri Tielemans for £35 million. Rooney expressed hope that Carrick can reverse the team's fortunes and extract better results from the squad following the international break.
