Man United and Xavi are in contact regarding a player who has been struggling since before Michael Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim.

Netherlands head coach Xavi confirmed he is in contact with Manchester United and defender Matthijs de Ligt during the player's recovery from a back injury. De Ligt underwent back surgery in mid-May, which forced him to miss the World Cup, and has been sidelined from match action since last November.
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick confirmed that the 27-year-old center back has resumed training but stated he does not want to set a specific timeframe for his competitive return. De Ligt has missed 33 matches for United and eight international fixtures over the past 10 months.
