Aston Villa have been dealt a worrying injury concern ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Aston Villa midfielder Ross Barkley has emerged as an injury concern ahead of the upcoming Premier League fixture against Newcastle United. Barkley suffered an upper-leg or hip issue in the 81st minute after scoring a brace during Villa's 6-0 Champions League win over Fenerbahce on Wednesday. He was unable to continue and had to be substituted after attempting to run off the discomfort.
Manager Unai Emery brought on Leon Goretzka, who made his return from a knee issue to replace Barkley. While it remains unclear whether Barkley suffered severe muscle damage or cramp, his availability for the trip to St James' Park is considered doubtful.
