The Story in 60 Seconds

Besiktas have reportedly agreed to personal terms with Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock's representatives ahead of a potential January permanent transfer move. Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reports the Istanbul club plans to renew their pursuit after failing to reach a deal in the summer. Willock's current contract expires at the end of the 2026/27 season, allowing him to potentially agree to pre-contract terms with clubs outside England starting in January.

Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle remains eager to keep the 27-year-old, who has started nine of the club's opening 11 matches across all competitions. Jaissle praised the midfielder as a top player and indicated Newcastle are open to extending Willock's contract rather than sanctioning a sale.
