Newcastle United transfer news and rumours as the Magpies plan for an important January window…

Newcastle United are reportedly targeting Middlesbrough striker Will Lankshear and continuing to scout Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt, according to recent reports. Newcastle scouts had planned to watch the 21-year-old Lankshear against Wrexham before an injury sidelined him. The striker has scored 13 goals in 13 games for Middlesbrough this season following a £10 million permanent transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Newcastle scouts were among representatives from 14 clubs watching Porto's 4-1 Champions League victory over Napoli on Wednesday. The club reportedly monitored Froholdt, who holds a £71 million release clause, as well as forward Samu Aghehowa, who scored after coming on as a substitute.
