Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle provided an official squad injury update on Thursday ahead of the club's upcoming match against Aston Villa. Jaissle noted that Bazo is progressing well and could potentially rejoin the squad on Saturday, while Nico Gonzalez was the only player previously cleared to start in the 4-1 loss to Coventry City.
Jaissle outlined reintegration timelines for several key players, explaining that Anthony and JJ could partially resume training next week, while Tino is being managed cautiously over the coming weeks. Additionally, Joelinton may see increased playing time, whereas Dan Burn is likely not ready to start due to limited training sessions.
