Chemsdine Talbi and Jocelin Ta Bi have a route into Sunderland’s European squad, but places come at a cost…

Sunderland can register wingers Chemsdine Talbi and Jocelin Ta Bi for the Europa League knockout stages, but doing so would require removing existing players from the squad. UEFA permits clubs to register up to three new eligible players before February 4, 2027. However, additions do not grant extra squad places beyond existing restrictions.
Manager Régis Le Bris cannot simply use Sunderland's three vacant spots on List A because those berths are reserved for club-trained players. Consequently, adding Talbi and Ta Bi would require two current List A players to make way, while still maintaining mandatory homegrown quotas.
