Micky Horswill was a Sunderland FA Cup winner and the last player to score for the club in Europe before this season
Sunderland legend Micky Horswill has reflected on his historic European campaign, leaving the club, and rooming with George Best after his 53-year club record was broken. Midfielder Enzo Le Fee scored a penalty against AZ Alkmaar to become Sunderland's first European goalscorer since Horswill's goal against Sporting Lisbon in 1973.
Horswill recounted his family traveling abroad to watch him play, winning the 1973 FA Cup against Leeds United, and his emotional departure to Manchester City in 1974. Following his move to Maine Road, Horswill befriended Manchester United star George Best and ended up sharing an apartment with him in the city centre.
