Andre Villas-Boas reveals Tottenham nearly got £125m off Man United in 2013

Former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed details regarding Gareth Bale's 2013 permanent transfer, stating Manchester United made a late bid to sign the forward before his move to Real Madrid. Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Villas-Boas recalled that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy informed him United offered around 120 million, but Bale was solely intent on joining the Spanish club.

Villas-Boas explained that while on a pre-season tour in Hong Kong, he wrote both club names down in the physio room for Bale to make his choice. Bale ultimately completed the switch to Real Madrid, where he spent his prime years winning 19 trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles under the Spanish giants.
