Former scout Bryan King claimed that Manchester United were very close to completing a permanent signing of Mohammed Kudus around 2018. King stated that clubs including United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa monitored Kudus during his spell at Danish side Nordsjaelland, when he was available for an estimated £800,000 before eventually joining Ajax.

Kudus later signed with Tottenham from West Ham United for a £55 million fee last summer. After returning from a serious quad injury suffered in January, the 26-year-old playmaker recently provided an assist off the bench in Tottenham's 3-2 defeat against Aston Villa.
