The Story in 60 Seconds

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi reportedly attempted to reunite with Marseille forward Amine Gouiri during the summer transfer window. According to a report by La Provence relayed by Sport Witness, Spurs showed serious interest in completing a permanent move for the 26-year-old Algerian international. However, the proposed transfer fell through because Tottenham were unable to offload Richarlison before the transfer deadline.

De Zerbi previously signed Gouiri for Marseille in January 2025, where the striker scored 17 goals under his management. While Gouiri has recorded five goals in eight Ligue 1 matches this season and drew interest from Atlético Madrid, Spurs Web notes that Tottenham may instead prioritize signing a traditional target man in January rather than renewing their pursuit.
