Green refused to speak to McCoist before completing his takeover of Rangers, meaning the manager learned of his arrival with everyone else.
Former Rangers chief executive Charles Green revealed that he refused to hold talks with then-manager Ally McCoist prior to completing his 2012 takeover of the club. Speaking on the Keys & Gray Unleashed podcast, Green explained that administrators Duff & Phelps had offered to facilitate a meeting, but he declined because he had not yet finalized the purchase and felt he was nobody at the time.
Green stated that his refusal meant McCoist found out about his arrival alongside the general public, contributing to a difficult working relationship during a turbulent period. McCoist remained as manager while Rangers began rebuilding from the Third Division, with Green serving as the club's chief executive.
