The flashpoint in the draw with Dundee United raised eyebrows of pundits and former officials…

Former SFA referee Bobby Madden stated that Celtic right-back Colby Donovan was correctly shown a yellow card rather than a red card against Dundee United. Donovan was booked by referee Steven McLean for a challenge on Zac Sapsford, a decision upheld by VAR official Chris Graham. Celtic eventually drew the match 2-2 after a late equalizer from Liam Scales.
Addressing the controversy via social media, Madden cited IFAB guidelines to explain that Donovan's tackle lacked malice, made clear contact with the ball, and did not endanger an opponent. Madden also maintained that St Johnstone player Kai Fotheringham's recent sending-off against Rangers should not have been a red card either.
