Nightmare scenario unfolds for Arne Engels as West Ham U-turn just months after Celtic move

West Ham United have sacked head coach Nuno Espírito Santo with immediate effect following back-to-back home defeats against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. The decision comes just months after midfielder Arne Engels joined the club from Celtic. West Ham confirmed that assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also departed the club as the board searches for a new manager.

Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will take interim charge of the first team ahead of their EFL Championship match against Cardiff City. West Ham sit eighth in the Championship table after 13 fixtures, while Craig Bellamy has emerged as an early contender to succeed Nuno.
