Martin O'Neill admitted wide man could be back sooner than expected as next step in recovery plan about to be taken

Celtic winger Jota could make his playing return this month as he prepares to feature in a bounce match during the international break. The 27-year-old Portuguese forward has been sidelined for nearly 18 months following a knee injury sustained at Tannadice in April 2025. Celtic manager Martin O'Neill confirmed that Jota is progressing well in small-sided training matches and may return sooner than originally expected.
While a competitive return was initially projected around late October, Jota's rehabilitation has accelerated ahead of schedule. His imminent availability provides a welcome boost for Celtic following three consecutive defeats, including two losses against rivals Rangers and a 3-1 home setback against Ferencvaros in the Europa League.
