Rangers defender Olwethu Makhanya was named the Scottish Premiership Player of the Month for September, while manager Derek McInnes earned Manager of the Month honors. Following the announcement on Instagram, South Africa teammate Thapelo Maseko praised the 22-year-old center-back by comparing him to Italian legend Paolo Maldini.
Makhanya joined Rangers from Philadelphia Union for approximately £3 million in the previous transfer window. The center-back has helped the team achieve four clean sheets in six league appearances, contributing to a five-game winning streak in the Scottish Premiership.
