View: Rangers transfer concerns may multiply as Ibrox star smashes latest test

Rangers defender Olwethu Makhanya started his first competitive match for South Africa in a 2-1 victory over Guinea in the AFCON qualifiers on September 26. The 22-year-old center-back partnered with Ime Okon to contain Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy. Following the win, South Africa manager Pitso Mosimane commended both defenders for performing exceptionally well.

Makhanya joined Rangers from Philadelphia Union for approximately £3 million and has been tipped as a candidate to eventually break the Scottish transfer record. While the defender continues to draw interest across Europe, he remains a key figure for manager Derek McInnes's backline alongside Emmanuel Fernandez.
