James Penrice caused significant controversy in Rangers' 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday. Derek McInnes' side scraped through to the Premier Sports Cup final…

Former referee chief Keith Hackett criticized referee Ryan Lee and the officiating crew following Rangers' 1-0 win over Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup. Hackett argued that James Penrice should have been sent off for a reckless challenge on Afeez Aremu, calling the unpunished incident a nailed-on red card for serious foul play.
Hackett also contended that Rangers should have been awarded a penalty kick after Ayoub Mouloua handled the ball in his own box. Despite neither incident drawing an intervention from VAR official John Beaton, Derek McInnes' side secured their place in the final through a late Ryan Naderi strike.
