Former EFL supremo Keith Harris made the astonishing claim that a deal to take both Old Firm clubs south was once on the brink…

Former EFL chief Keith Harris has revealed details of a past agreement that nearly saw Celtic and Rangers join the English Championship. Speaking on the Keys and Grey Unleashed podcast, Harris detailed a private lunch hosted at the home of former Rangers chairman David Murray, where board members from both Old Firm clubs, the SPL, and the SFA reportedly reached a £40m deal to facilitate the move.
Harris explained that the agreement included financial incentives for the Scottish league and pitched title opportunities for clubs like Hearts and Aberdeen. However, the plan collapsed when a newspaper journalist discovered the story and threatened to publish it prematurely.
