Key Things to Know
  • UEFA has given FIFA until November 2 to provide documents and details regarding controversies under Gianni Infantino.
  • The inquiry demands explanations about the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise plan and links to investor Joshua Kushner.
  • UEFA requested all documentation regarding the suspension of Folarin Balogun's one-match ban.
The Story in 60 Seconds

UEFA has given FIFA a two-week deadline to supply answers and documents regarding multiple controversies during Gianni Infantino's presidency. UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis sent a formal letter to FIFA's Mattias Grafstrom setting a November 2 deadline, requesting explanations about the FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, the Folarin Balogun disciplinary case, undisclosed payments, and the origins of the FIFA Peace Prize.

The inquiry follows UEFA's announcement in August that it had lost confidence in Infantino, with European football's governing body planning to back an alternative candidate for the upcoming presidential election. The letter also raised impartiality concerns regarding electoral committee chair Bruno Chiomento's personal ties to Infantino.
