Haney vs Stevenson fight talks collapse as both boxers trade blame over weight limits and rehydration rules ahead of a possible bout.

Negotiations for a potential late 2026 bout between undefeated champions Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson have collapsed following public disputes over weight limits and rehydration clauses. Stevenson claimed Haney abruptly demanded to fight at the 147-pound welterweight limit instead of an agreed 145-pound catchweight. Haney denied the accusation, claiming Stevenson went silent and improperly sought a rehydration clause.
The fighters had previously seemed close to finalizing terms for either late November or December after verbally discussing a 145-pound limit. However, ongoing disagreements regarding rehydration restrictions alongside conflicting promotional partnerships between Zuffa Boxing and DAZN continue to leave the proposed matchup unresolved.
