White is targeting the potential heavyweight bout for the undercard of the December 11 event headlined by Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, noting that Opetaia is willing to fight anyone despite the matchup being dangerous.

Opetaia, 31, recently defended his position by stopping Noel Mikaelian inside nine rounds. White stated that Opetaia wants to stay active across both cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions, while writer Wil Esco notes that Wilder represents a major step up in name value and danger despite being past his physical prime.
