Naoya Inoue may prioritize an immediate world title shot at featherweight over a proposed mega fight with Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez. Unbeaten WBC featherweight champion Bruce Carrington has expressed strong interest in defending his 126-pound title against Inoue, offering the Japanese star an opportunity to become a five-division world champion when he returns in early 2027.
Inoue last fought in May, retaining his undisputed super-bantamweight crown against Junto Nakatani. While a showdown with Rodriguez had been projected for 2027, talks have stalled as Rodriguez eyes potential unification bouts at bantamweight, prompting Inoue to consider moving up in weight sooner.
