Veteran boxing reporter Dan Rafael has delivered a damning assessment of the sport, stating that boxing is in the worst state he has ever witnessed. This comes three years after Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshikh entered the sport with the goal of fixing its market problems, lowering pay-per-view prices, and delivering the best possible fights.

While Alalshikh successfully staged major events like Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk, critics argue Saudi-backed purses have inflated fighter expectations beyond what the traditional market can sustain.
