The South African legend selects his ideal combination across eight batting skills during the World Championship of Legends 2026.
South African cricket legend AB de Villiers constructed his ideal ODI batter by selecting various iconic players across eight different batting disciplines, noticeably omitting Sachin Tendulkar. Speaking with Star Sports ahead of the World Championship of Legends, de Villiers chose MS Dhoni for power-hitting, Virat Kohli for the cover drive, and Rohit Sharma for the flick off the pads, while also selecting Kohli and Rohit together for running between the wickets.
For the remaining disciplines, de Villiers selected Matthew Hayden for the straight drive and Ricky Ponting for the pull shot. He named former teammate Jacques Kallis for the cut shot, while selecting Pakistan's Younis Khan for the sweep shot.
