BCCI senior chief selector Ajit Agarkar is reportedly expected not to seek an extension when his tenure concludes next week. The Agarkar-led selection committee recently selected India's national squads for an upcoming series featuring three ODIs and five T20Is against the West Indies, along with the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup.
Agarkar took over as chairman of selectors in July 2023, collaborating closely with former captain Rohit Sharma and former head coach Rahul Dravid during runs to the 2023 ODI World Cup final and the 2024 T20 World Cup title. Gautam Gambhir subsequently succeeded Dravid as head coach following the tournament victory.
