Seamer on verge of extending career with move south, following Lancashire axe…

James Anderson is close to extending his playing career after entering talks with Surrey over a contract for the 2027 season. The 44-year-old fast bowler was informed by Lancashire director of cricket Paul Farbrace that he would not receive a new contract, ending his 25-year association with his boyhood club. Anderson considered retirement before opting to seek a move following interest from several county sides.
Discussions between Anderson's representatives and Surrey have occurred, though no agreement has officially been signed yet. Surrey, where Anderson's former England teammate Alec Stewart serves as director of cricket, has room within the ECB salary cap to accommodate him on a contract specifically dedicated to first-class cricket.
