The Story in 60 Seconds

Reports have revealed a significant communication breakdown between Team India's sports science unit and the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Head of cricket VVS Laxman serves as the only communication channel between the two teams, raising concerns about injury coordination. Between April 2025 and March 2026, 32 top men's players, including 20 centrally contracted cricketers, underwent rehabilitation at the facility.

The disconnect stems partly from differing methodologies between the units. In June 2025, national strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux suggested adjustments to workload-management routines, but the CoE remained reluctant to deviate from its protocols. Additionally, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has called for greater accountability, citing an extended rehabilitation stay for spinner Varun Chakravarthy.
