Dhruv Jurel's unbeaten 99 guided India A to 291-7 at stumps on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test against New Zealand A at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Captain Jurel anchored the innings with 11 boundaries and three sixes after the visitors suffered an early blow with Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed for a duck in the opening over.
Devdutt Padikkal stabilized the innings earlier with a composed 80, sharing a 91-run stand with Sai Sudharsan. Fraser Sheat led New Zealand A's bowling attack with 4-50, but Jurel forged crucial lower-order partnerships with Manav Suthar and Akash Deep to put India A in a competitive position.
