Hampshire club legend Jimmy Adams is leaving the county after spending more than 25 years as both a player and coach. The 46-year-old has taken up a new coaching opportunity in Australia with Tasmania, departing after an eight-year coaching tenure at the Utilita Bowl.
Adams made his debut for Hampshire in 2001 and went on to score 19,723 runs in 462 appearances across all formats before retiring in 2018. The former opening batter captained the county from 2012 to 2015, won five trophies during his playing career, and later helped Hampshire Hawks secure the Vitality Blast title as lead batting coach in 2022.
