Aussie great to take over as CA chair as Baird steps down

Mike Baird is stepping down as Cricket Australia chair at the upcoming annual general meeting on October 28. Former Australian Test batter David Boon will take over as interim chair while the governing body searches for a full-time successor. Baird, who served on the CA Board for six years and as chair since February 2023, is also resigning as a Cricket NSW director.

Baird's departure follows Cricket Australia's recent decision to pursue a privatization model for Big Bash League clubs, starting with the sale of the Melbourne Renegades license. Boon joined the CA Board last year after serving as Cricket Tasmania director and chair.
