Breakers seek to set new bar following final defeat

The NSW Breakers are preparing for the 2026-27 Women's National Cricket League season following their defeat to Queensland in the 2025-26 decider. Head coach Peter Clarke confirmed the squad is set to face Queensland in an opening-round rematch at Cricket Central. The Breakers will have Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, and Phoebe Litchfield available for their first two matches, offsetting the absence of four players touring India with Australia A.

New South Wales dominated the previous regular season by winning 11 of 12 matches before losing the rain-affected final. Squad changes include the addition of wicketkeeper-batter Emma Manix-Geeves from Tasmania and a full contract upgrade for allrounder Caoimhe Bray.
