England legend says Rob Key should have spoken to him privately before announcing his exclusion from the 2025-26 Ashes tour.
Former England pacer Chris Woakes has criticized the England and Wales Cricket Board and managing director Rob Key for their handling of his omission from the 2025-26 Ashes squad. Woakes stated that Key should have spoken to him privately before making the decision public, describing the process as feeling cold and shabby.
The omission prompted Woakes to retire from international cricket following a career that featured 217 appearances, including 62 Tests. While acknowledging Key's responsibilities during the Ashes preparations, Woakes noted that professional sport offers little loyalty and revealed he has barely spoken to Key since his retirement.
