Victoria chipped away after posting 307 with the contest very even heading into the third day…

Queensland batter Jack Clayton finished day two unbeaten on 99 to anchor his side to 202 for 5 in their Sheffield Shield clash against Victoria at the Gabba. Facing 191 balls and hitting eight boundaries, Clayton held the innings together as Queensland finished the day trailing Victoria's first-innings total of 307 by 105 runs.
Victoria had earlier been bowled out after resuming at 282 for 9, with captain Will Sutherland remaining stranded on 43. Sutherland quickly made an impact with the ball by dismissing Hugh Weibgen and Hugo Burdon in the same over. Clayton then combined with Angus Lovell for an 85-run stand before Matt Hennig and Todd Murphy claimed key wickets to leave the contest finely balanced.
