Melbourne Stars left-arm spinner Sophie Day spent three months in Darwin playing men's cricket over the winter to develop into an all-phase bowler for WBBL|12. The 28-year-old sought competitive match practice during the domestic offseason, playing two-day, one-day, and T20 matches for Darwin Cricket Club, followed by a stint with Sandgate-Redcliffe in Queensland's T20 Max.
Day is working on speed variations to become an option during Powerplays and Power Surges. After going wicketless in her first two matches, she claimed 2-17 against the Perth Scorchers. Away from cricket, the fine arts graduate is also preparing her next art exhibition to be held at the end of the season.
