Mike Hussey appointed Australia consultant coach with 2027 World Cup and 2028 Olympics in focus

Cricket Australia has appointed Mike Hussey as a consultant coach and T20 advisor ahead of major upcoming tournaments. His remit begins with Australia's upcoming T20I series against England in November 2026 and extends through the 2027 Ashes, the 2027 ICC Men's ODI World Cup, and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He will also provide coaching assistance during the Test series against New Zealand to support head coach Andrew McDonald.

The 51-year-old previously served in short-term coaching roles with Australia and was part of the coaching setup for England's 2022 T20 World Cup title. Hussey declined an offer to join Stephen Fleming's England Test coaching setup, opting instead to support Australia across formats as the team prepares for a demanding schedule that includes co-hosting the 2028 Men's T20 World Cup.
