A batting collapse that nearly cost Australia the opening T20I was a symptom of poor execution, not a misguided approach, says Ellyse Perry

Ellyse Perry dismissed concerns over Australia's aggressive approach after surviving a late batting collapse to defeat New Zealand by two wickets in the opening T20I at North Sydney Oval. Chasing 163, Australia were comfortably placed at 0-102 after 10 overs before losing 6-57, eventually securing victory with seven balls to spare.
Perry, who top-scored with 52 off 30 deliveries, attributed the stumble to execution errors and rustiness rather than tactical flaws. She noted that most batters lacked recent time in the middle during the preceding ODI series against Bangladesh, while also praising New Zealand bowler Jess Kerr's 3-25 spell.
