Sophie Molineux is back to lead Australia, while left-arm quick Lucy Hamilton has returned from a quad injury

Phoebe Litchfield will miss Australia's opening T20I against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval due to a hip strain. Returning captain Sophie Molineux won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tahlia McGrath was recalled to the starting lineup in place of Litchfield, marking the only change from the side that won the T20 World Cup in July.
Australia also welcomed back left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton from a quad injury, leaving Megan Schutt out of the playing eleven. Meanwhile, New Zealand entered the three-match series with an interim head coach, Dean Brownlie, following the recent international retirements of Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates, and Lea Tahuhu.
