Murphy relishing rare chance to play leading role

Australian off-spinner Todd Murphy claimed seven wickets across two innings for Australia A against India A in Puducherry. Bowling 48.3 total overs, Murphy secured 4-48 in the second innings to help keep Australia A in the contest on a spin-friendly pitch. It marked the first time the 25-year-old took seven wickets in a first-class match since his Test debut in February 2023.

Murphy expressed satisfaction with carrying an extended bowling workload in subcontinent conditions. He noted that the heavy usage offered a refreshing contrast to his previous Sheffield Shield season for Victoria, where spin bowlers frequently played secondary roles on seam-dominant pitches.
