Sheffield Shield 2026-27: All you need to know

The 125th edition of the Sheffield Shield begins on Wednesday, October 7, featuring a staggered opening round. Defending champions South Australia take on Victoria at Junction Oval in a rematch of last season's final, followed by matches between New South Wales and Tasmania at Cricket Central, and Queensland facing Western Australia at the WACA Ground.

The 10-match home-and-away season includes adjusted session times aimed at balancing bat and ball, along with an extension of Cricket Australia's injury substitute trial. The top two teams will contest the five-day final from March 25-29, 2027.
