South Africa v Australia, first Test: match preview

South Africa and Australia will face off in the first Test at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban starting October 9. The match marks Australia's first Test tour of South Africa since 2018, featuring a clash between the top two teams on the World Test Championship table.

Australia has ruled out all-rounder Cameron Green due to an abdominal strain, putting recalled batter Nic Maddinson in contention to play. Meanwhile, South Africa named an 18-man preliminary squad that includes injured fast bowler Kagiso Rabada as well as uncapped batter Marques Ackerman.
